Thank you all for your kind words, I find them hugely encouraging, and thanks for taking time to look through my thread!

Here's a couple progress photos...

I polished the glass lenses although these ones have seen some use, but I'll take OG over reman China crap any day, even with blemishes.

So now, it's headliner time. Again....ugh...but I have watched and read a lot, and have decided on Bone colored tweed from Sewfine, at a surprising price of $270....I expected $400up....so that's nice.

Any of you fine gents have recommended contact cement advice - I will not use spray adhesive again, it's too messy. Cheers you guys!

The only way to go! Spray is useless in most cases. Just be sure you DON'T get the 'green' version (California formulation) as it's worthless and frustrating. Be sure to have good ventilation, and wear your respirator...

With my lower back shot, and no headliner yet, the only progress picture I can post is this, the tool for helping insert chrome trim into the window rubbers. Me and wifey ordered it a few days ago, should be here tomorrow, and I'll get busy.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

That's all for now. Happy Friday tomorrow woooohooo!

Hi guys. My tool arrived so after work I got busy....yes the tool helps but this is still a chore.

Eventually I finished the two side windows, and the rear.

The windshield however, was a total nightmare. The seal kept coming off, so I glued it, then that didn't work so I taped it, but as soon as i get to these sharp corners the seal comes off...eventually I gave up as my hands are killing me.

I've noticed it's a badly cut repop windshield so maybe that's the problem or the seal is from somewhere crap like jbugs. Hmmm.

Thank you my brother! I appreciate your encouragement.

So, after much fiddling, appreciating the string tool, and strained hands and mind, I went from this...

The windshield corners were a bitch, and the seal is close to popping off in one corner, so I need to install it quick, but thank the Lord the chrome trim install is done.

Ooooh, and I have a Bone Tweed Headliner, ordered from Sewfine, which is super exciting.

The windshield turned out great! Your perseverance has paid off nicely! I agree with the sentiment under the windshield in the second photo. Very Happy

REALLY looking forward to seeing that tweed headliner from SewFine when it arrives. Popcorn

Update on the headliner, manufacture time is 5-10 weeks which, although a complete bummer I would rather a delay than have a sub par product like the last headliner.

Hi guys hope you are all doing well. It’s been a mad month or so, I changed jobs yet again and now I’m somewhere that’s acceptable. Yikes!

The headliner still has not arrived so when I’ve had a chance, which hasn’t been very often, I’ve fiddled about with stuff such as…

Finally have the deck lid on, albeit still needing a minor adjustment…

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Then I taped up the area I destroyed before trying to get my hood on…

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And my buddy Clyde and me put it back on… needs some adjustment still, very confusing

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Then I redid my axle seals with German parts…

… and lastly this evening, I was caught by Clyde committing sacrilege….

I’ve been so caught up with what other people might think I’ve avoided the issue. The issue being my rear wheels have not settled even with the motor back in, and I have positive camber in the rear that I cannot stand. I’ve dropped the rear by one outer spline, in the hopes that it sits exactly how I want it to. Time will tell. I must add, I am not “slamming” my 61, but I will put an adjustable front beam in, so I can obtain the eye pleasing “not raked” but “is that lowered or not, I can’t tell?” look for my car.

I’ll finish up tomorrow and set it down on the ground and see. I’ve marked the end of the splines so I can go back if it’s no good, however one spline on my 67 was perfect.

Until tomorrow fellas. Lots of love and best wishes and hope you had a spooktacular Halloween!

How much is too much? A bit of positive is normal, even desired. My '57 is stock and has never been apart, as far as I know, and is gettin' a liitle saggy in back, especially with a rear passenger. With my lug of a son in back it'll bottom on some bumps. I should replace the bushings and check the angles. Someday, maybe...
Guess what I'm saying is don't go too far Surprised .

Only moving the spring plate is a big change. Inner and outer should be moved at the same time to acquire the desired height. Hope it works out for you. I usually have to do it several times before I get my desired height. Although around here we go up and down. Laughing

In my experience, it doesn’t settle until you drive it.

Well hello fellas. It's been a busy time, and still the headliner has not arrived. I emailed Sewfine and they told me the windlace supplier they use has folded so they needed to source a new one, and they are sorry.

So I lowered the back of the car one click...

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And after a week of contemplating decided I didn't like it and it's too expensive lowering a link pin bug any other way than drop spindles which I don't like.... so me and my buddy Lando raised the car back up again...

And put a front bumper on...

It was another fantastic birthday this week and the wife bought me all the chrome and scapers etc for the doors, German quality as advised by Chris Vallone. Lovely.

More to come when the door parts arrive....probably before the headliner.

For now, cheers!

Wellllllll hello you guys hope you are doing good..

Headliner and door parts finally arrived wooooot

However...... yes you've guessed it, there's a problem....

The windlace was the delay. Sewfine had to find a new supplier for the windlace, and I'm assuming therefor have a bit of a backlog, which in turn would mean that they rush out the kits that were on hold, once the new windlace comes in.

If only they hadn't stitched the windlace to the wrong side of the tweed.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

What you see through the window in the picture above is the face of the tweed. That should be facing into the car. I tried both pieces, on both sides and it's the same on both sides, the backside of the tweed is a lot "fluffier" looking and very different to the woven tweed, if that makes sense.

I politely emailed Sewfine and we'll see what's next, although another delay is for sure one of the things I'll get.
