Volksaholic, so if you can upscale the 1/35, is it your intention to print a full scale in all plastic? Keep us posted! _________________ "A life of peace and happiness depends on your own gratefulness" |

ok, spent about 24 hrs printing this, as you can see, i ended up with 3 parts, i had a few printer crashes i had to deal with, but looks like full size is possible.
this is what i call PROOF OF CONCEPT, YEAH i can do it.
1st pic shows 1:35 scale on left, then i did a 1:25 scale, since most of my work is in 1:25, then did 1:1
top view, glued together
side view - glued together

this view gives you a good idea at the thickness of the metal, assuming the 1":35 scale is correct
here is took a black felt tip and used it to point out a few things
you can see 2 nuts that are used to hold the top down,
there is a little lever i think is used to open the glass panel, and maybe to change the bulb
you can see the reinforcement ribs on 3 sides of the shaft that attaches

here is the inside of the modern notek light i have, ji did not get a bulb or a + wire, but you can see the hole the wire comes through, inside a silvered contured shell that the bulb fits inside of
now if you look close at this cutaway view,
1 - the light bulb faces backwards
2 -see that row of little rectangles around the light, i am pretty sure those are like 1" square mirrors to reflect the light back out the little window - why? i think to produce a wider beam than just a bulb looking forward
3 that little lever, anyone know for sure what it does?
can someone translate that german for us?

a promising start. it looks good in the first pic but not so good glued together are you able to overlap the sections so a clean join can be made and preferably clear of the logo. how does it compare to the real one?
there are 3 nuts to hold the cover to the base and the lever is the clamping screw which holds the notek to the base mount. to change a bulb undo the 3 nuts and remove cover. see page 21 of the notek booklet link.
I think there were cast and pressed covers on these lamps.
the reflector is pressed metal and silvered on the inside (no mirrors) and sits on three raised parts of the base and held with three screws. but do not worry about this as a simple strip of plastic covered in chrome tape could suffice for repro use.

Hi
Here is a fast translation - not all is direct translatable for me.
Maybe someone can chime in with some better fitting ones
*edit made the suggested changes

lens probably works better for streuscheibe and reflector for spiegel in this instance _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

so your notek has a different shape than the notek model i built, and the one i have ordered is shaped like mine (i think)
the handle lets you unlock and take off the notek - my modern design does not have that, so we need to decide, do the reproductions need it or not? the less complicated, the easier to make, but if people will not buy it unless 100% accruatte, then we need to do it
your thoughts on the clamp? _________________ Volkaholic |

not sure what the first part means...
the clamping screw is available as a repro part already so you just need to have the base plate boss to take it.

BTW, i sell those cool VW and porsche mugs, hit me up if you want one!
next step is to blast bare, then inspect, then do some welding repairs, bondo and spot putty to smooth out so can 3d scan it. _________________ Volkaholic |

I think I would use molasses or vinegar instead of blasting. |

ok, blasted bare
a few bits of rubber still left around the glass
overall top side view, i cicled the notek stamp, you can just barely see it
inside view, since the notek stamp is raised, it is actually punched from the inside
here you can see the bracket that holds the light, not sure how it actually attaches, anyone got ideas?

i posted this and then it disappeared?
little bits of rubber left around the light seal
top view, you can b arely make out the notek name, i circled in black
inside you can see the notek stamp better
here you can see the part that holds the lens, got to figure that out
also, original paint is khaki - so maybe intended for africa corps, but ending up in russia, so second coat of paint is black _________________ Volkaholic |
