I have an ongoing problem..I have a 2332and previous was a 2234 and have the same problem..under or around 2000rpm it seems to miss a bit, idles perfect at 850 rpm.
I have changed distributors played around with timing changed idle jets ...after 2000 it takes off like a rocket..
The only thing I didn't change is the carburetor..it's an Spanish idf center mount..
I currently have 65 idle jets..
And currently running a 010 distributor with petronix.. |

So what does the center mount..mount to?
PVC pipe from homeless depo?
CB intake? Bugpack intake? isolated? plenum? steel? fat? skinny?
Does it have a CAMshaft?
How about an exhaust? |

I have no choice..dual carbs simply won't fit..it's on a beach buggy ..after 2000 rpm the thing is a rocket...
Red light to red light I have raced quite a few different cars and won.
I have 295 50 15s on the back and it will spin the Machine sideways..
Lol it's just under 2000 rpm Is where it's a tad sluggish |

Maybe switch to a 123Tune distributor so you can use whatever vaccum you have in the manifold to dial in some extra advance just off idle, or ramp the centrifugal curve a bit faster off idle.
That must suck as even driving with a stock cam 1641 the engine only works above 2000 rpm .. _________________ Ancient vehicles and vessels

Agree on the distrributor. If it has to be an all mechanical, go with a 019 or a Magnaspark or Shockwave.
Header is too large for the power window, so there will be a good deal of overscavenging.
If you run the stock 36 mm venturis they are likely too large. Go 2 mm down and rejet. _________________ https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=435993 |

Lots of us Beach Buggy owners are running dual carbs. Yes, a tight fit but not impossible...
I curse mine every time I need to work on them but absolutely will not go back when I get behind the steering wheel! Dual carbs on a Beetle looks even tighter to me and it's done all the time. _________________ Our cars get old, we get old but driving an old VW never gets old! |

Accelerator pump squirt off?
Double check dwell. Nubs, putting, & gap off can cause that symptom.
Hope it's something simple.
Sounds like a fun ride ... stay safe
