We got a ‘73 Thing for my wife recently that had modern rims on it and she’s wanting to have a more classic look so we found a set of ‘67 rims, but they don’t have rivet holes for the hubcap clips.
I feel like I could *probably* drill them close enough but I’ve heard there are templates out there for that purpose. Does anyone know where I might find one? Everything else has been easy to find: hub caps, clips w/rivets, etc. but haven’t found a template yet. |

67 wheels don't have the clips because the early hubcaps wouldn't fit if they did. You will need to find 65 and earlier wheels if you want to use the domed caps. _________________

Ah, ok, good to know. So it seems like our option is just a different type of vintage cap (reproduction, probably), just not the original style that would have been on the Thing. I think we can probably live with that for now and will maybe look for something more period-correct down the road. Thanks for the info! |
