The cabin is great but there is no place like home.

I was stoked to find these goodies had been delivered.

I’m especially excited about the voltage regulator. This is the last piece I need to install on the fan shroud so then it ready for me to stab in the Kar.

I picked up these silly pink valve stem caps just for fun.

The contact clearer is for the fuse panel, all the bulb holders and wires ends and so on. I hope the 12v conversion goes well and that when I go to turn things on for the first time in three decades it goes smoothly. I always say that “Electrical ether takes 5 minutes or takes 5 hours” Laughing

Diving into the electrical on the motor today.

Doing so many off road cars it became a habit for me to always use a ring connection instead of a slide connection…. It seems that the slide connection just eventually likes to let go, that can not happen with a ring connector.

I had that happen in the seediest part of Oakland once. Shocked
I actually had a huge Buck Knife at the ready as I was making the roadside repair.
Yeah it was that sketchy where the wire came undone from the coil.

I got the Generator wires ran, Empi globe adapter mounted with the moon eye pressure gauge and the oil pressure switch installed and wired. I have one more port on the Empi adapter that I may get a bit brave and run a remote filter off of it. I have a unique NOS kit they sold back in the day but I’m not 100 percent I’m going to use it.

I feel like it would go good with this Retro Speed theme I have going.

Finally got around to ordering bolts for the spring plate to the axle. I have decided to not run disc brakes and use the original brake components that came on the Kar. Notice I have the bearings packed with grease because the Kar will be so low that oil will struggle to reach the bearings.

This light socket brush is very handy and effective. The original equipment was in surprisingly good shape. I did a once over for good measure.

I have some of these filter repops, but I'm too scared to use them for fear of it failing and causing a mess.

I don’t blame you man …. Repop stuff these days are so hit and miss. You just don’t know anymore. I have had stuff recently that was bad out of the box. I think that’s why I love vintage Empi so much it was actually decent back.

This one is very hardy and I put new O- rings on it and it has been problem free for a few years on my Bus. I decided I would switch it one to the standard.

You could always put yours over the transmission for a while and if survives there maybe move it to the engine bay.

I got this moon eyes magnet and oil filter yesterday. Using the NOS Empi remote filter stand I’m considering doing something similar to the early Porsche and Okrasa set up that puts the filter on the fan shroud. The Empi kit using a cool looking copper hard line that I think could add a bit more curb appeal.
