I love little things that fall into place randomly…
I mentioned before I bought a bug for the title and parts. The seller needed to get rid of the trailer it was on to so I was blessed to get the trailer with the purchase of bug. I quickly sold off the easy to sell parts and then just left the rest on the trailer and put it in the back forty of our property. The point of this story is that I was working on the Standard this weekend and I thought to myself I would like to get a used set of scuff guards for the doors. Then the very next day I was pushing brush around with the tractor to the the burn pile and when I passed by the trailer with the parts on it I saw that the two OG paint doors I got had the guards on them. I know that may not seem like something to get so jazzed about but I truly enjoy the small things in life and how they just fall into place randomly.
I love the way they look on the standard, as if they have always been there.

I bet a few of you will dig this crazy radio I had as an option before I came up on the Empi one.
So this is typically called a “Picnic Radio”
I feel like this was the first generation pull out stereo.
This crazy thing pulls out with that chrome handle and then sits upright and even has an antenna that pulls out for having a picnic with my lovey lady.
This thing is NOS and still has all the mounting hardware and even an ear peace for long walks in the park. Haha
I know it will find its way on a build one of these days.
When I was digging through bye box getting out the hardware I found my stack of vintage Race Trim stickers… not sure why I had them in there but they resurfaced just at the rite time.

Ok we're gonna need a thread about that bus over in the split bus forum ASAP. |
Ya know …. I would probably really enjoy that. This Bus comes with endless stories and details as I built it up from practically nothing…. It sat in the foothills rotting since most likely the 70’s. It was the classic “If you can get it out of here you can have it” that’s just where the story begins….
Here is a photo of the first time the wife and I drove it… all the way from our shop in Orangevale ca to Arizona for BBB …. I have never entered a car show in my life and I guess its automatic at that event so you can imagine how surprised I was when I heard my name being called from stage off in the distance. They gave us top 20 out 500 busses… it was honor and a reward for the decade it took for me to reach that milestone destination. I could go on and on about the journey it took to get there. Maybe I will take your advice and start a thread on “Patches The Patch Panel”

Maybe I missed this, but why are there no beadings on the dash for this model? |

I decided to check the cars on the property to see if there was any good ivory knobs that I could put on the Empi radio. The wood knobs do not match anything. In my travels I came across this cool little dude. I need to let it soak a day or to tho. The retaining collar is pretty frozen at the moment. The rest looks to be in pretty good shape so that’s a good thing. My first thought was since I’m not running a choke so I could put it in that hole. The only thing is I would have to drill open the hole to a bigger size, I don’t think I want to do that. We will see.
