Hi all,

I am in the final process of painting some parts for the restoration of a 1951 split. While looking in the tunnel section of the chassis under the dirt I found the original color of the chassis which was black, but while cleaning these 2 other parts I realized that the original color of these individual parts are in tan.

These two parts are the steering column:

Gear lever base:

And also possible the handbrake, but I don't know as I had already grit blasted the parts.

Anyone can confirm if anymore parts where sprayed in Tan color originally? Or where these added later?

I can confirm that this car is part of the Berlin exchange program and it was re-fitted during the Zwitter era as most parts on the car are rarer than split ones. Also the engine is stamped with KDS - Austausch and the engine number reflects a 1949 engine.

Thanks all,

Keith

Thanks a lot Finster, this was the info I was looking for, I have just realized that the luggage rails are still in original L71 and I will take it to the paint shop to get it scanned.

Note the luggage rails could be in different color than other parts.

Split export luggage rails (except blue cars)
