1960 Hendrix VW

Has anyone heard of this car? There is one in our local newspaper and we are not sure what it is. I tried a google search, but came up with nothing. The owners says there were only about 5000 made. It's a convertible, fiberglass body, canvas top, orange with a stripe, 2200CC engine, dual carbs and 18 rear tires. Any information would be helpful. Thanks, Tom & Joan

Seriously, this has been addressed over in the off-road & kit forum. Pics would be helpful, but I think I know the answer already.

I don't know anything about that particular buggy but I do have a picture somewhere of hendrix in the back of a buggy with some white chick doing a flip over the rollbar. I'll try to find the pic. I think it was in an old Rolling Stone mag.
