there have been several discussions on this topic over the years, unfortunately I don't remember the original poster.
I only have 1952-55/56 doors here so there may be hardly any difference, but I wouldn't be surprised if the shape of , like your 64, is slightly different at the b pillar.

afaik the beltline shape/cross section is different on older vs newer buses. at least at the front doors and at the b pillar. |
I have not notice a difference but have not really checked and may be missing something. Newer doors are often used on BD so I can not see where they could be different. Very interested if there is more to this. |

No big news, but stll a ton of little work the last few days.
Some finishing on the outer door skins, still a bit of bending in some areas, need to think about how straight i want to go...
The inner frame is a different story, mostly gone i ordered some material to make some new small tools for my bending machine, when this material is machined, drilled and adjusted i am able to bent that tiny shape, maybe
I also bought some tools for my Ww2 Matra Lathe to make tools for my beading machine and build some test panels, and learned a lot!!
Also the left inner door frame needs some replacement i had done.
A lot of time gone to thinking about make the Barndoor straight again, so I bought some tools, and built some.
This is one if my most afraid milestone.
The timeline says that next Saturday it's a important day when i start to pull on the corners all around and the roof to look what we can save, wish me luck...

Those door-skins look very good. Are you gonna treat the rust on the inside before you put the inner-structure back on the skins? |

Isn't that the perfect arrangement to replace the rear parcel tray. I think you did this on purpose !
To get this view, like in a 1950s VW cutaway model... is simply breathtaking. It is so beautiful ! _________________ Hotrods, Fords, Veedubs and Triumph Twins !

Hello Christian,
Always tricky to repair something when everything around it is gone. But you'll manage. It's a strange feeling when such large parts are missing from the vehicle. When my roof and the front end were gone, I also wondered about it

It's not possible for me to do a good repair on that heavy damaged side wall so i put them completely out today and drilled all the inner structure off and also the remains of that bent C-pilar.
Dont looks good now

just needs a RHD side panel now (without doors) vintage would be perfect. Lots of headscratching at the next VW bus meeting
seriously, though, lots of work. you are a brave man. _________________ regards

Haha, that would be a very funny thing!!
I heard about a vanagon panel that was built like that, full panel, if I recognize right it was a 16" syncro fallout van.
Yes, a lot of work needed, so today I started the repair on the rear pillar.
I get a bbt raingutter, sadly it's to short and wrong angle...

Thanks Christian, then we can help each other.
The rain gutter thing bothered me too. It's such a simple part and a shame that it doesn't fit. Fortunately my bus remains with a lot of patina where it's not so noticeable. It seems that the upper sheet metal of the rain gutter is not already welded. This makes it impossible to weld it to the top of the side panel and has to be laboriously separated again beforehand. If it was separated, at least the criticism has been received _________________ my current challenge
