Has anyone heard of a Myers Manx "Hendrix" Kit car? We are looking at one, but can't find anything about it. The seller says there were only 5000 made. This is a 1960. Any help would be very appreciated!
Thanks,

It is only a Meyers Manx if it follows the outline of the following link:
http://www.manxclub.com/realmanx.htm
Many people refer to fiberglass buggies as 'Meyers Manxs'. There were no special 'Hendrix' models of the Manx. In fact, there weren't any fiberglass buggies before 1963. The chassis may be of 1960 Vintage, but that doesn't mean the body was. Chances are it is a clone. I have never heard of a Hendrix buggy. Are there any ID badges or serial numbers?
If you can post a picture, someone could probably identify it for you. _________________ OG JHC

Jimi Hendrix is one of the celebrities who owned Manxes in the 60's, and that's probably where the person got that somewhat confused piece of info. Meyers made about 5,200 Manx bodies between 1964 and about 1972; that would account for the other part of the story.
Uncle Bob is spot-on - many people use the word "Manx" to describe any fiberglass-bodied buggy; there are ways to tell if it is or isn't a genuine Meyers buggy, however. I agree that pics would be helpful, and I also recommend checking out the Manx Club website. I'm member # 1687, by the way, and my Manx is serial number 1689. _________________ Organized people are just too lazy to look for stuff

We contacted Winnie from the Myers Manx club and have sent her some pics today. I doubt that this is the real thing, probably just a clone like you said. The guy we got it from didn't know anything about it really. He's not a VW person. He ended up with it because somebody owed him some money and he was just telling us what the person who gave it to him told him. Thanks for the replies though! Tom & Joan |

Cool. Can you post the pictures in the gallery here as well? I always like checking out buggies. _________________ OG JHC
