Hi guys,
I have a 53 zwitter (so with the oval dash) with a VDO clock installed in the chrome grill in the middle of the dash. And I also have a radio. Where do you install the loudspeaker when the clock is already in the way ? I assume there are a lot of DIY possibilities, but I am looking for a proper way to dissimulate the loudspeaker behind the dash.
Thanks !

I've seen folks make up speaker boxes as a rear seat arm cushion that looks like these:
Hiding in plain sight! Hidden wires or Bluetooth connects to your radio/stereo. _________________ Current Fleet:

Great idea, but I am looking for a more vintage solution with a vintage Loudspeaker
I am thinking about making a spacer, holder for the LS behind the clock but the sound may be awfull.. |

You just need the distance ring that goes behind the clock. Then you should be able to get a speaker in there fine. _________________ Kevin "Wiggy"

that looks good, but actually I have the distance ring, but the clock is still too deep to allow the LS behind the grill. The back cover with the grooved
nut for the clock is for beauty purpose only ? |

Do you have one of these spacer/adapter that allowed a larger speaker to be installed and gave more clearance.
Are you using an original speaker or a modern one? The cone depth of lot of modern speakers isn't as deep as older speakers. As you suggested, you could make a spacer out of plywood to push the speaker back to give more clearance. If you do a neat job cutting it and paint it black, it would look like it was a factory part. _________________ Chris

Pop the clock in the glovebox and free up the speaker space?
