Heres some pics of an on going project I started a year or so ago...
I thought I'd share here on Samba... This was My first project Vw in High
School . Now its under going a reserection sort of speak. It went from bein
a sort of stock baja to haven a full rollcage bus trans thing frnt end and 2180cc motor... It was fun for being what it was.. Story short sold of alot of the parts. and all that i was left with was a body and pan and few suspention parts as it sat for ten years on the side of my house..Finally got the Vw bug again and decided to put it back together... The goal was to have 105"wheelbase and 18"of wheel travel ...
This what it looked like when it was together..

Just to give some more info about the build..
This is based on an old Class 5 unlimeted Baja .
They had to stick to vw base suspention and could go wider than stock
and were limeted to 105" WB. motors were unlimited but had to be Vw's
I chose to go 12" wider in front 10" in rear.. Transmission wise going with A bus 002 or 091 . Motor still tryin to decide , would like to run a 2800cc type 4 motor if money allows...But I just end up rebuilding my 1914 that is being use in my brothers rail..
I was tryn to make this as inexpensive as possible...
Thanks again for the remarks ..

In these pics ..I had the body bolted down. and started to fab the main hoop of the cage and the (A)piller bars.. The 8' over beam was welded up some .
The goal here was to tuck the cage close to the body. For the most
interior and head room.. Cage is being made of 1 1/2 .120 wall around the driver and pass.. |

The beam clamps you see their are chrome too..They were the only ones i could get at that time..I ended up buying a bag of 24pcs from
Pacific Customs for like 50 bucks...They do sell them indavidually for like 3 bucks.. |
