The big company sticker on the van is a hint(part not online). Wink
Transporterwerks and vanagonlife have offered a similar product for a while.

Chris is actually going to be at a campout with me this weekend.

If people had questions I'm sure we could find out details.

Daves not here Wink

So what is the purpose of a carrier on the side of the Van? I dont understand the utility of it there. The Van shown has a swing out tire carrier, seems to me that might well be a better place to add extra storage rather than on the window. Or is the tire carrier already jam packed with storage carriers?

Probably because: Different strokes for different folks. I get the utility of it there but I see why someone else doesn't.

Fair enough, so what do you use it for, what do you store in it? Looks like it might hold a two burner Coleman stove nicely.
If you design the door to swing downward and supported at horizontal, the door may then serve as a shelf to use the stove on perhaps, but it might be a tad too high up for most folks.
What is the silver tube attached to the ladder???

There are so many small manufactures that make a handful of niche vanagon products, I wish we had a list of them or a place for them to advertise.

I think Chris is looking to a version 2 with the door opening downward. The tube if I recall if for a flag pole.

Maybe I'm missing something, but whether the door opens up or down, I have a hard time seeing how you could open it without everything falling out. And, to paraphrase the cheerful flight attendants, "Use caution when opening the side window storage compartment. Items may have shifted in travel." Maybe it comes with tie downs or netting of some kind?

From the first post it would seem that it was meant for recovery gear. Tow rope/straps etc.

I like the use of that location in westy or weekender vans that have a cabinet there on the inside. No one is looking out, driver doesn't need it. Why not hang something there. Personally, I don't like the idea of spare tires mounted on swing aways or to the rear hatch. If I was building a syncro or pre-runner van with large wheels, I'd make a mount and put the spare high up on the side there...
