Greetings,
I recently acquired a 64 sedan that has rubber strips on the bumperetts for both front and back bumpers. Did a search but cannot solve my question as to why they are there. Are they for the European market only or did they come out of Australia or maybe Brazil. The previous owner did not know as well. Appreciate any feedback you can give.
Thanks,
Mike |

they were offered as accessories to protect the chrome from parking damage, mainly for the american market (I think)
from the 64 vw accessories brochure

They're just little add-on / accessories that were available either through the dealer or aftermarket.
They were never specific to any market or country- though seems like in Brazil there were times where cars seemed to be supplied with stuff like that intermittently during production. _________________

Thank you both for your replies, much appreciated. In reading the description of the "Bumper Guardians" in the photo it describes the Live-Rubber was bonded to the bumper in minutes. What I have found (see photo of bumperette) is that the rubber was bolted on using 13mm bolts one near the top of the rubber and one near the bottom (a hole is visible where the bolt goes thru). In addition, the entire length of the bumperette is flat as if they were actually made that way in a factory. Boy, these ol cars are never boring!
