| I'm not sure but I think my 64 beetle's og color was L-289 Blue-white. Does anyone have a photo of a car this color? |

It's hard to tell from the picture, but if it's the '64 OG color maybe L 519 Bahama Blue? Doesn't mean it's NOT L 289 Blue white but L 289 is pretty pale --The color ( L 289)is usually seen as a trim color, like rims on a Bahama blue bug Where I've seen L 289 most is the top half of 2 tone L 380 Turquoise buses.-- I tried to take a picture of some bus sheetmetal but it's to faded /chalk like so it just looks white, you can't see the blue tint...Lloyd |

I had a pint of L289 mixed up today from my paint supplier and it actually looks somewhat pale greenish - at least more green than blue. Can anyone else verify this? I bought it since it was under $12, but I am leary of using it now. Who would I go to to verify the actual look? The actual pigment list for the color had green in it and no blue which I thought was weird. Also, it was listed specifically as a trim color covering like 63 - 66 VW - mixed by the L289 code. It does look like the perfect Bahama Blue accent color as mentioned above.
Maybe I am worrying too much . . I dunno . . . _________________ Gerg

| Yeah. Bahama BLUE is actually like a pale green, If the paint shop guy used a computer to enter the code and mix the paint than its probaly correct. |

Someone needs to post a detail picture of their OG paint L 289/L380 bus ( next to a white piece of paper) It's my favorite color combo on early 60s buses but I've seen quite a few L289 mixes and don't have a good color paint chip card. I've seen some that look really greenish white and some that have more of a blue tone it's hard to tell next to the Tourquise. In talking of computer mixes if its done to match a piece you have in your hand they are pretty good, sometimes they need a little tinting. But if your talking color code match from the computer color number the PPG and Dupont I've had mixed vary wildly some right on some way off. Small paint amounts is what I do too. I couldn't find a good picture of a L380/L289 Bus but if you look at these doors in this picture... |

This is supposed to be "Pale Blue". The color was mixed with the paint codes for Pale Blue from Autocolorlibrary.com _________________ • Metal Fab & Quality Suspensions, Type I-II-III. Since 2004 • |

Maybe its the amount of Ochre ? with 98.6% White , 0.8% Black , 0.6% Dark Green, one drop of Ochre (from Vintage parts catalog) |

Well, I held it up to the Bahama Blue body I am working on and it looked almost the same. I was happy to see that as I guess I associate the Bahama Blue with a 'blue' color in my mind I guess - although it looks like a pale blue-green.
I'll get the contents from the label and post here to compare to the ones above.
Thanks for the replies!
I just looked at the '65 paint chips at www.autocolorlibrary.com site and my mix looks exactly like the pale-blue L289 chip there. I feel better now - especially since it is right next to the L360 chip on the page and it makes the L289 chip look more blue.
I wonder where Blue-White came from if it is indeed Pale Blue? I know my paint supplier called it pale blue also. _________________ Gerg

Has anyone recently painted their car blue-white? What paint code did you use? I am trying to find some blue-white paint for my bus _________________ 1963 Bus
