Saturday, October 25, the Night Before the Harvest Cruise!

We will meet up at the park where the show will be on Sunday, and do an hour cruise out and about and end up at Top Notch Hamburgers in HUTTO!!!
It's 4th Saturday VW Night !!!!

The 2025 VW HARVEST is the this upcoming weekend, October 25-26.

The VW Harvest Cruise is Saturday, October 25, meet up at the Brushy Creek Amphitheater Park at 3pm, Driver's meeting at 3:30pm and depart at 4pm.
The cruise distance is 57miles.
We will end up at Top Notch Hutto.

Sunday is the VW Harvest Show.
Gates open at 8am, show officially starts at 9am with the National Anthem.
Twinkie Eating Contest at 10:30, VW Valve Cover races at 12pm, and the awards and raffle begin at 2pm.

The VW Harvest was a wonderful event for the VW Community in Hutto, Texas on October 25-26!

The VW Harvest Cruise to Top Notch had 49 Volkswagens lined up and leaving the Brushy Creek Amphitheater parking lot on Saturday, ready to enjoy a 57 mile drive through the farm lands of Central Texas. A highlight of the cruise was the 15 minute stop and break for pictures on top of the beautiful Granger Lake Dam. What an amazing sight to see! All the VW's, Things, Buses, Beetles, Ghias, Dune Buggies, Bajas, Jettas, Rabbits, Golfs, Jettas, you name it, all VW models were represented.

After the stop for photos and to stretch our legs, the cruise continued on to the final destination, Top Notch Hamburgers in Hutto, Texas! The newest Top Notch location pays homage to the original down in Austin, made famous from the movie, "Dazed and Confused". The parking lot filled to the brim with VW's as the late afternoon turned from dusk to night. The western sky lit up as an incoming thunderstorm was putting on quite a display, best news, it never rained on us at Top Notch!

Sunday dawned with a thick fog over the entire area, but promises from the weather guys told us it would soon burn off and be a wonderful day, and they were right! The 2025 VW Harvest was on full go with swap meeters always the first to arrive, followed by VW's on trailers, and tow bars and being driven by their proud owners!

The parking lot at Brushy Creek Amp is HUGE, but it was filling up fast with bootiful Volkswagens, air cooled and water cooled! The show officially began at 9am with the playing of our National Anthem by a local musician on his trumpet, what a great way to get the show going! Free registration opened as well and the raffle was on too! The basket for the 1970 red VW Beetle Convertible was filling up with little orange tickets, each placed in their with someone's high hopes that they held the winning ticket and were going to drive that baby home!

The Harvest has many fun activities for families and kids, none more fun than the famous Bay Are Volkswagen club sponsored Twinkie Eating Contest! Kids have 2:30 minutes to eat as many Twinkies as they can! And did they ever! The winner was Sam East, 7th grader from Abilene, Texas!!

At High Noon the green flag dropped and the ‘you know what’ stopped with the VW Harvest VW Valve Cover Racing Championship. This year featured a record number of 24 entries! Coming out on top in the double elimination finals was “The Rooster” defeating last year’s champ, “Doc Brown”. If you have yet to see how serious some folks take their VW valve cover racing, holy smokes, it is crazy! Good times were had by all.

The Harvest kept rolling along with awesome tunes by DJ Tony P playing all the hits and keeping the afternoon hopping along. As 2pm deadline approached, folks were rushing to get their final tickets in the hopper for a chance to win HB25, Harvest Beetle 25!!

The wonderful Harvest raffle, made possible by some equally wonderful sponsors began at 2pm. As has become a tradition at the new Harvest location, folks gathered under the giant Pecan tree’s shade with the lake at their backs, all with the hope of hearing their number called.
Breaking up the raffle were the Top 10 VW Harvest chosen by the participants themselves. If you register for the Harvest, which is free by the way, you get 3 votes to pick your favorite VW. The Harvest is and will always be a show for the community and by the community.
Club Choice awards from NVT Customs, Old Vols, the Oval Office and Project VW set us up for the big moment!

As all of the tickets for the raffle Beetle are from a continuous roll, the numbers, called off one by one, kept the suspense building until the very end when Bill Cavender from Odessa, Texas held the matching number and was last seen headed West in HIS 1970 VW Convertible!

What a day, what a show, what an amazing VW Community we are all a part of. This is what it truly is all about.
