Press bumper patina Kombis are some of the most beautiful things on earth. nice bus. Good luck with the extracurricular activities. . Im not speaking from experience but if she sits on the back seat and uses the D pillar and the panel support on the other side for foot rests..... never mind... I've digressed |

Thank you for posting that picture!!!!! That is so cool!!
I collect old oil cans and other advertising art and was blown away by that Dri-Powr photo and the fleet of buses they had. I wonder if any of them are still around?! If you lived in So Cal. and ever went to Car Custom in Azusa, chances are you probably noticed the huge old Dri-Powr neon sign with the genie on the building behind Car Custom. You can see the large structure on the roof of the metal building behind the fleet of buses. That is the old sign.
Perfect logo for the mango:
The only photo I could find of the sign: (maybe Everett can let it slide without a vw in the pic)

Wow, the color of the genie is almost a perfect match to the mango! It would look so rad with a Dri-Powr genie logo'd on it! |

Saw this bus at the Colorado State Fair in August. They were also handing out lots of free gummy bears so win win!

For the most part yes. It was difficult to read the faded logo during the restoration. Had to do some minor research online to verify. There is a sticker on the rear window that reads I support the Canadian parachute team which helped.

My 1961 panelvan as found in Croatia and few months later after discovering old logos under the paint, Leopold Siegrist tobacco company from Germany.
Hopefully will be finished this year, stock on 6.70-15s.

I tried to search, can't believe this one isn't in here yet.
spotted in Orlando Craigslist.. this NEEDs to be brought out in the sun and in it's original glory.
Letterfly a Sign Artist bus.

Unique 1964 VW Microbus Up Price: 20000
Here is an interesting barn find for the aficionado of unique vehicles. I bought this bus in 1974 to use in my emerging career as a signpainter. The 30-year-old paint job is intact with airbrushed logos and hand-lettered signs.
The body is in good shape for the person looking for a good bus to restore. The interior is partially restored. The front seat is in new condition having been reupholstered at Muriel’s Upholstery in Fort Valley, GA several years ago. The engine and all mechanical aspects were in top running condition, having been gone over at Baggerly’s VW in Tampa twenty years ago, prior to being parked in the barn where it has sat ever since.
Window and door rubber molding is original and is understandably cracked and will need to be replaced. The body is clean with little rust and undergear is in great condition.
This is a good candidate for either a restoration project or for a collector who wants a unique vehicle with a colorful past and an interesting old paint job that showcases the hand-lettering trade and airbrush art of an era gone by. |
