Interesting scam they ran, did they also work at an amusement park/zoo/etc doing the same thing to people who came in?
Off the topic but I'm interested to know why the houses are raised off the ground? Flooding? Pests? |
You see raised houses all the time on Coastal islands in the south. My understanding is that it's due to flooding from potential Hurricanes. I also think it helps reduce the insurance rates. My home is 9' above sea level, and if we get a direct hit from a Category 3 hurricane, it's possible that my home will be under water due to storm surge. _________________ Call your Cunado's:

I was told on a trip to Hawaii that the reason was it kept the homes cooler with air circulation under them. _________________ Prosit!

That scam reminds me of back in the 90s my dad and I were working on our freshly painted 69 bug out in the driveway and this guy in a little airplane was doing a similar thing. Damn thing was buzzing over the neighborhood all afternoon! He came to our house a couple weeks later trying to sell us prints of the aerial photos he'd taken. My dad told him he ought to give it to us for free to make up for the annoying noise we had to deal with all day. |
That was a big thing here int he midwest in the 80's and 90s. Lots of the photos are now cataloged here: https://vintageaerial.com/
