I'm aware there is a VW Bus toy thread here in the T2 forum, but I didn't find a specific RC Bus thread.
It's 4 year old news by now, but apparently Tamiya, the maker of the Grasshopper, Frog, and many more, make an on-road T2 Bus kit. They also make a Ghia and Beetle in this series.

Mine just arrived, but I'm at work and still waiting for the rest of the parts:
They also sell just the 1/10 Bus body separately.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/394133664727
I have a few more RC Bus models to add in here later.
Anyone else here collect RC Bus's? _________________ "OG = Original German" -- TheSamba.com dictionary

Tamiya offers two different buses that look the same but have different drivetrains. Your bus is the rear wheel drive version:

They also have the "Flower Power" bus, with the same body but it is front wheel drive:

Good call, the front wheel drive version is based on the Tamiya M05 kit, and costs a bit less. That model comes with the body already painted blue, and you can add those 'hippy' stickers, or not.
Not mine:
The sportier RWD version is based on the M06 Tamiya kit, and you have to paint the body yourself (wouldn't have it any other way), but both the M05 and M06 kits share a lot of the same parts, which makes them future proof for replacement parts. They also sell a pre-painted Bus body M06 kit, that's red and white like the box.
You could also buy the M06 Pro version, and put the Bus body on it. That's the cool thing about the Tamiya M-chassis series.
I got some 8-spoke Empi/torque thrust looking rims to replace the faux VW rims, these are from the Tamiya M06 Mini-Cooper kit.

Tamiya also had a wonky wheelie bus available for a while based on the Wild Willy WR-02 chassis. |

That's right, I've seen that thing, it's a bit cartoonish for my tastes, probably fun to drive though.

Opposite end of the scale, but I have one of the Carson 1:87 scale Bundespost single cabs. It's a fun desk toy. And the speed is more realistic

I have a bunch of 1:87 Brekina's, but I never thought I would see an RC version! I've got to get in on those Carson 1:87's.
Love the Feuerwehr with working beacon, at 0:38 (paging @mdege):

Found a Carson 1:87 Bus for sale:
I personally enjoy the power of a certain flower, legally here in CA and without shame, but that '60's bright yellow color scheme is tired, I can't do it.
They do sell a pair that I might have to have.

Too cool:
EDIT: Just read the fine print, not available in the US.
This item can only be delivered to the following countries:
All EU countries, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein
Good thing eBay has everyone of these Carson 1:87 Bus models, and ships to the US. Thanks for the heads up on these @Who.Me!
EDIT2: Couldn't resist the Carson 1:87 23W with trailer. I made it a few hours, almost. This one should be on its way here soon:
It has lights on it, what could I do?
@ Who.Me?, do you have any pictures or video of your SC? _________________ "OG = Original German" -- TheSamba.com dictionary |

Never got around to building an RC, but want to. They have been around for a long time, but sourcing the parts gets pretty $$. I remember seeing one that was in a finished package, but did not buy at the time-should have.
Not to forget the famous Dave Deal's on Wheels though! Not an RC, but equally Cool. The "High Blotation Tires" were cool, I have 2 kits sealed in Revell's box, and one finished. Deal made an entire collection of cartoon-ish famous cars, and the Red Baron bi-plane
I did manage to build "Mini-Me" though. A bit bigger and quite terrifying to drive when you hit the NOS Button.

That would be a serious RC car, they do make large enough servos for that kart.
I haven't built an RC car in about 25 years, I forgot just how good of a kit Tamiya makes.
Windows masks:
Took a while to cut the body out:
Why would anyone need two Bus bodies.
Most of the parts have arrived, time to get started.

10 hours nearly got it done. Was harder than I had remembered.
Might be ready to paint it tomorrow.

Received an email from the eBay seller of the Carson 1:87 RC Bus I purchased a couple of days ago:
Dear customer,
we would like to apologise for the inconvenience your order has caused. Unfortunately we must cancel your order as the item you have purchased can not be send to your address. The item contains lithium batteries (in the bus itself) which can not be removed and therefore the item is banned from shipping to addresses outside of Europa. You will of course receive a full refund.
Amazon will send me a box of 6S LiPo's with insane maximum current discharge rates, straight from China and overnight, but the tiny little battery in this Bus can't be shipped here. Hard to figure that.

I had thought the window masks were pre-cut.
Wrong.
Had to cut out every last one of these by hand. Thought this would never end. Had to walk away from this, over a few days intervals.
If you like the red/white paint scheme, buy the already painted body kit instead.
I think the body will take longer to complete than the car will. Those are water-slide decals.
And then the hop-up madness inevitably follows with these things.

I used some scissors that came with my Amazon kitchen knife set, lucky I had those, as all my other scissors are trashed from cutting everything under the sun that you shouldn't cut with scissors.
But the tool that really makes all the difference in the world, to me, is the Optivisor with the Quasar light kit, I love this thing so much. I would buy another one of these today, if mine broke or went missing. Had mine 5 years now, still works like the day I got it.

It's like having bionic vision.

Very cool screen name! Shouldn't have opened mine. Because when I did, this one doesn't actually work, never did right out of the box in 2006 .
