|
|
I just testfitted the sidewindow panel with the side panels and the rear corners.
And the "bulb" profile is not correct at all, looks better in pictures then in person.
And the fitment between the window panel and the lower panel is not correct at all either.
Sadly i bought these panels a long time ago so i cant really complain (have not had time to check)
What would you do? Try to fix them (and how)
Or is the Autocraft panel better? I am guessing that the long panel has the same problem

I think that is my plan at the moment
When i get the time over i will make a CAD file of the profile and try to make a 2 piece form to press the shape more correct (must fix my chinese CNC first) |

That's going to be a challenging fix. I'd call BBT first and see if they can offer you a solution. _________________ I've never met a Bus I didn't like.

Never had a panel that was this far off (except for klokkerholm)
Not even klassicfab is this bad, sadly since Brexit it is to expensive to buy Autocraft panels. So i got BBT panels thinking that they would be somewhere around KF in quality.... |

The KF parts i got now is no better then they were 10 years ago, problably worse.
I prefer the Autocraft, but they are more expensive, at least for me.
My feeling is that, no matter what you get you will have to modify it to fit anyway, problably less with autocraft. |

Just got a B-pillar from KF, not even the 2 parts of it fits together, same problem with the doglegs.
And i hate the green paint....
Never got any Autocraft panels with paint on then, must be a new thing.
Not heard anything from BBT yet
Might be better to make 2 wheels for pressing/forming the edge... |

You can tighten up the fit of the edge near the flange with a shrinker. That will tune up the fit to the original panel. Is the profile consistent from the edge where the flange is all the way through the beltline? It would be time consuming to get the entire beltline correct.
You might consider using a profile gauge or cutting one out of some cardboard to see if the shape is off all the way around the panel. If it's just the flange side, it's and easy fix. _________________ I've never met a Bus I didn't like.

Nothing new there. It’s been that way with practically every aftermarket VW part for the last 30 years. I’m just happy that the current manufacturers get it close (closer?). _________________ I've never met a Bus I didn't like.

I checked the profile of the beltline, and it is consistent on both the 2 and the 4 window panel. And both are wrong, both in the upper and lower part.
Still no reply from BBT.
At the moment iam ignoring the problem, because iam at the the stage of fixing the last part of the chassies (and need to save momey to buy floors) so i dont need those panels yet.
If BBT dont reply i will problably try to fix them, and when that dont work i will talk to Autocraft and see if their panels are better... |

Where did that full corner window replacement come from? |

I think it is Wolfsburg west corner.
The beltline profile of the corner matches my original cargodoors and B-pillar. |

Finaly got an answer from BBT.
And they know they dont fit, and claim it is because of my modelyear.
Which is bull****
Since the big problem with them is the flange against the "fender".
They offered to buy them back, but since the say they are the only ones who make the panel. I will have to fix them
And the roof reinforcement, they claim they dont see the difference..... |
