Signwriting/Logoed Buses
I did a search through the forums--even talked to EB--and couldn't really find a thread that suited my fancy; so i'm going to start one.
the back story is that my sister convinced my dad to get through some of the old photos of her childhood and have them digitized.
being that the bus (or one of the four he's had over the years) was an ever present part of both of our lives it happened to show up in a few photos.
here are a few of the initial offerings and i'm sure there will be more to come, although i can't guarantee in what time-frame as they are mostly slides.
my sister was a real life flower child!
reports are that she would ride up there all day
he found this one for me. yes, that's me.
now i have some proof for my username.
the ones of my sis were taken in Mexico some time in 1973.
the one of me looks to be about 1981.
i'd like to dedicate this thread to my dad and my sister who shared some incredible times way back when...and also everyone else who "led the life" when that actually meant something special.

I was born in Akron. I remember my parents talking of Barberton, and being there when I was a kid. That's been more than 50 years ago.
Gorgeous bus. Great pic. |

A vehicle that looks like a bay window is at 49 seconds, even though they were not in production for another 3-4 years. |

It looks like a lowlight bay coming down the street at 30 sec. as well. Then at about 3min 35 sec. it looks like a much earlier time with the streets packed with 20's-30's era cars. I would say the year isn't accurate, but a cool old video none the less. The rest of these pics are neat as well, good idea for a topic. _________________ "Cross Country Trip" http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5...highlight= |

At first glance I thought the old guy was a hanging victim. |

I've posted this before (on my own thread about "The Toaster"), but it is another lost and found photo story...
Taken sometime approximately in 1974, I had this roll of film developed in 2013.
Was very pleasantly surprised to find a picture of not only our family's car, "The Toaster" that I'm there too. That's me at age 4.
It's one of those things; you remember how you, and/or your family, drove the VW near daily, and yet there are so few pictures (from the early days of driving it).

Back in those days I did not have a camera, so I depended upon photos from others. This one comes from the person you can see reflected in the cupboard mirror. My bus was a 1960 subhatch Westfalia and the location is western Ontario at some spontaneous campsite. We picked up these two American hitchhikers and travelled with them for a couple of days.
