Howdy,

Just took apart the nose cone on my spare tranny. Does anyone know the OD of the plastic bushing\ball when new? This one seems to have a bit of play however it doesn't look that worn.

Thanks

I can measure it when I get home. Compare it visually to a new one:

See how much the rim wears down?

Yeah, my rim looks thin, uniform but thin.

Thanks

Steel ones are available. They were made for a specific application that I cannot remember, but the plastic ones save wear on the fork. Personally my trans has had the steel ball for an unknown amount of time, and I put a fair amount of mileage on it before I pulled the nosecone and discovered it. No appreciable wear was noted.

It took me a while to find the spare one. Here's what I measured:

18mm diameter at center
16mm diameter at edge
1mm thick lip around circumference

I think you'll notice the most wear with the last two measurements.
