On my 72 the wipers have only one speed extra slow. THe next setting turns off the wipers, is there any way to speed up the wipers.
THanks
Ben

Funny, I have been working on the same problem for a year now in my 72 Super. Yesterday I decided I was going to take out the motor and bench test it to see what the problem was. After all the work of pulling it out, trying to (unsuccessfully) bench test it and putting it all back in the car I discovered something. The column switch had an extra position on the up swing that was just tight enough to make it appear there was no more movement. Consequently, the switch has worn or something to appear that it has two off positions making me think slow was the only speed. In effect, there are four positions (someone probably pushed down so hard it snapped off a stop or something in the switch) now, not three.

I took out my column switch, sprayed it with electric contact cleaner, then silicone spry and even though I still have two off positions I can move the arm more freely to the high position.

Good Luck,
Mike

My 73 also has two speeds...real slow and pitiful. Just be glad the motor runs at all.

Have you tried cleaning the inside of the remote wiper arm pole. Grease gets mixed with dirt and dries out making it hard to swing.

disconect the ball joint bar for the wiper arm and try moving the right one. It may be stuck.
