Is there any way to convert a 57 mechanical Tach to a electrical one?

I replaced my 356 tach mechanicals with those fom a 914. It's a very easy job, you can easily do it yourself. It's a straightforward conversion and the results are VERY nice. While everything's opened up it gives you the chance to clean the gauge face and repaint the pointer. It ends up looking like new!

Luck,

TC

I know that Palo Alto Speedometer in Palo Alto, California sells a Electric Tach that looks just like the stock tachs that work with a cable. They show up on Ebay from time to time.

dude, the sweep of the 914 tach needle is different from the 356. The 356 reads 6k at about the same amount of sweep the 914 is at 7k. Is the 914 tach adjustable? I put 924 internals in my 356 tach. It is adjustable. I had to hook up another adjuster to slow it down enough to match the 356 dial. I put the adjusting knob on the outside for easy tuning. You could speed it up a bit and save you engine's life... Them things are expensive Exclamation
