when you go to start it.. you have to hold the gas for a long time before it idles on its own, the motor is all stock.. what could the problem be.. also, after running for a long time, if you go to start it it does the same thing. _________________ 70 Square

What have you done so far?
Tune up?
Vac leak search?
Idle adjust?
Timing check?
Fuel pressure test?
Temp sensor II clean and tighten? |

It could be your first order from the bus depot or where ever you go.
I use my Bentley all of the time.
Consider some new plugs, fuel/air/oil filters, points and condensor (if you use them), and ignition wires in with the order. I would be thinking about replacing those fuel lines if it hadn't been done in the last 3 years. MIght literally save the bus. |

If nothing else, do a visual inspection of the engine compartment - look for loose wires or vacuum hoses, bad connections, etc. Often you can see something popped loose, or a cracked vacuum line or something like that. Wiggle connections & joints and make sure they're tight - sometimes a vacuum hose will be just loose enough to leak, but it will still look ok until you wiggle it. Good luck, _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!

Look for the aircooled only version of the 80-83 Vanagon Bentley manual. You'll save about $70 by not buying the current version (80-91)
