can someone let me know what the capacity of the speakers mounted in the vanagon are rated for - the ones in front of the rear hatch by the hinges?

Not much.
I think they are like 10 ~ 15 W.
I dumped mine in the back and put in some 6X9s under the back seat.
Much better.
MUCH better.
