This is going to sound dumb but since my Super had no carpet to begin with...How does the shifter mount in relasionship to the carpet? Is there a small hole cut in it so that only the boot protrudes through or does the whole shifter base bolt on top carpet? Or is there a larger hole cut in the carpet so that the shifter base bolts straight to the floor throught the carpet and is visable? Thanks.

Just lay the carpet in the car. Find the hole where the shifter goes and cut a small hole. The shifter sits on top of the carpet and there should be no tunnel visible.
