I am thinking about buying a Thing, and wondered about weight and will a tow-bar from a Beetle work? I would also like to know if the front bumper has provisions that would let me use a reese type tow-bar? All the Reese tow-bar needs are two 1/2" holes for the clip? Thanks, Thingless-in-Indiana

The type 1 tow bars that go for around $50 work perfectly. I barely notice it back there towing with a 2002 V-6 Explorer. In Ohio at least you are supposed to have the brakes tied in if a towed vehicle over 2,000 lbs., which a Thing is. I don't have that, but I have only towed it around town, never on a big highway trip.

I have towed mine over 1200 miles at a time with no problem at all, I use a standard bug towbar and forget it's even back there. The front suspension needs to be in reasonable shape and don't try to back up with it.
