So I bought a campUfire for my 73-181 and found the rotor was too tall for the cap to go on after the trigger ring was placed in position, so I ground the bottom 3/16” so it fit and Walla it works great. I re- timed it and readjusted the crab and it runs fine. I then went to my brothers place to help him with his 73-181 that has a 009 dist. And a 4pict3 carb after timing the engine it idled 1350 rpm so we compromised a little and backed down the timing. The carb has all the modifications but doesn’t like the 009. We just couldn’t get it to run as good as mine.
This confirmed my decision to keep the stock carb & dist as long as possible

I'd keep it forever. The dual vac. Distributor and 34pic-3 is a good combo. You should still be able to time your brothers thing and turn down the Idle via the carb. The main problem with the 009 is a flat spot while accelerating. It should Idle and tune fine. _________________ Cool runnins,

I wont give up but he says he is going to replace the engine with something with more power power.
What ever that means.
I think they are worth much more stock.
