Is there a trick after the wiper shaff nut is removed? I hope I dont have to
dismantel the motor. Maybe it's just stuck?
Has anyone had a lower windsheild frame fabricated? |

artist,
holy crap, another canuck on the thing forum!
your motor is stuck, i think.
i have fabricated a lower frame, or more accurately, rebuilt one. my frame was very rusty at the ends. i purchased a length of lower frame from thingsunlimited that had had the ends cut off inboard of the hinges, so what i got was just a length of the lower frame channel. i cut my lower frame apart, removed the rusted ends. i cut off the hinges carefully so they could be re-welded onto the repaired frame. i then butt welded (at an angle) new ~10" pieces onto each end of my frame. i fabricated the new clean ends to have all the right angle cuts, notches and holes. then i welded the hinges and inner brackets back on. i had to plug weld a few extra holes because my repair pieces came from a part of the lower frame that had holes for the wipers. i had to drill the new wiper holes. this whole process took maybe three days of working about 6 hours per day. it is nearly impossible to see the repair after the frame was painted, and the whole thing cost me about 20 bucks. i photographed the whole process, but i used a film camera, so i can't post any photos at the moment. but it was not incredibly difficult to do, but you definitely needed to measure everything really well so the new frame was exactly the right size, and all the screw holes align properly. _________________ SL |

Mine just pulled right out, but I had the thing 1/2 dismatled at the time. There's only 2 screws that hold that the motor onto the gear box, you might try undoing that before you replace your lower windheild frame. |
