I bought some thing engine tin for the fan shoud and discovered the stock j-tubes were finned and the tin is boxed to go around the j-tube. Does anyone have more info on this setup? Is there a thing bentley?

Thanks

I also have a 74 with heat exchangers. but I'll check my book in the morning for you. That setup looks pretty good though. Do you have a extra oil slump on that engine? Are those gear reduction boxes? It may be older, did 73s come with reductions boxes?

I was wondering if I was looking at a splitty. The old things had reduction boxes. I'll still check my book later and let you know about the engine tin.

The 73 model, no heat exchangers, did have an extra piece of tin to fill in the gap. Air Deflector Plate-left side 126 119 461, right side 126 119 462.
hope this helps.

My book, Which, I think only covers 73, 74, Only shows Dual Mufflers. One on each side, about the lenth of the engine, Cylinderical. The front(flywheel end) exhaust tube is attched and curves up, and over to the front Exhuast port. There is a flang for the the rear exhaust and a seperat exhaust tube That bends from the port/heatraiser to the flang on the muffler.

Right side
Muffler 181 251 052
Connecting Elbow 181 251 153 A
Left side
Muffler 181 251 051
Connecting Elbow 181 251 153 B

These will be really hard to find or repo's that will cost a bundle. I would start with Mike Basso at thingsunlimited.com, It may not be listed on the site, so send him an email.

I maybe wrong, but I seem to remember having finned J-tubes on my Thing when I bought it but that was 16 years ago and a few engines latter and my memory is a bit fuzzy. At the time I didn’t know better but someone (previous owner I guess) had put heat exchangers on my 73’, the sheet metal had rotted away and all that was left was these weird looking finned J-tubes. (the core of the heat exchanger.)

On the other hand I could be miss-understanding what you are asking and prattling on about something unrelated.
