Where is the M-code plate in a squareback?

There isn't one.

There is just the VIN plate and the paint code tag

That's a list of M codes for Type 3 options.

You need the original invoice, for those options on your car. I believe.

The only other way that I know to get the M code options on a car is to get a "birth certificate" from VW in Germany.

Found the VIN plate on my 69 sqbk, but not paint code tag. Is it on the VIN plate or was it a sticker that may have come off.

I am trying to find out the original paint color as the body was sprayed a different color than the interior and under the hood. It looks white, but with a green hue.

Here is a pic of the plates I can find.

Thanks!

Could be in a couple of different spots depending on the year. Of course it could also have been easily removed by a PO.

This is on a '69 Squareback:

This is from an earlier ('61 - '65ish):

Thanks Hoss!..............damn, I've wanted to say that since the 60's when Bonanza was on.... Very Happy

I think it is the toga white. I have looked high and low for that sticker and it is missing. I have the car at the shop, and we removed everything from the trunk. Someone pulled it off...........darn it!
