It won't have a glove box door. The door wasn't introduced until 77 (?) and since all Things imported by VWoA were 73 or 74s, none of the cars here have the door. |

If you don't win the bid on the door, let me know and I'll give You the email address of the guy thats reproducing the replicas. I'm sure he can email pics so you can see what they look like and maybe get an idea of the quality. I get a lot of help from him on a Thingers email thread, and he really seems like hes into high quality, get it done right fixes.
He was recently putting together a group buy on the glovebox doors for $75 each.
Although Id much rather have an og door, and can understand anyone else wanting the same. Just let me know if yur intrested and I can point you in his direction.
good luck on the bid. _________________ Cool runnins,

We are a long way from home on creating the reproduction Thing doors. We are only interested in making a near exact duplicate of the original. The original hinges and latch come from other VW applciations and are available. I have those part numbers if anyone wants them. I have a group buy going with Mike Basso at Things Unlimited to allow for $75 after market doors that have a piano hinge. Bruce on this list is the only person I know of who can provide a "real" Thing glove box door. I only know of two other folks who have a single glove box door and thye are saving those for special projects. Bruce gets around $200. I think if you want the best you must pay a fair price. His doors are one of the truly "rare" Thing parts. I know where most of the hard to find Thing parts are offered. The question is, can we afford them. Not me. I am a poor Thing owner, preserver, modifier. I really apprecaite folks like Bruce who have provided parts that would otherwise not be available. K-mann |
