This is a cartoon I did and put on a tee. I wear it to all the local vw events. I'm also working on some other dub models. _________________ 72 ghia coupe w/Electric Golde slider

Though I have many favorites, the one I seem to wear most - due to its dual purpose of a Volkswagen AND a beer shirt - is my Colorado Brewing Mass Transit Ale shirt with the kombi on the front. Its now my raggedly, work on the car/in the yard shirt so its getting even more wear. _________________ '69 SingleCab

I have the remnants of my "Bus Krauts" t shirt around here somewhere. It has so many oil and grease spots the EPA goes on high alert if I try to wear it.
It's not a t-shirt, but I have a "Volkswagen Motorsport Sweden" pullover that I got at Bad Camberg in 1999 that is really cool _________________ Gary

I've never seen the Simple shirts. I remember the ads in the magazines for Simple Shoes. I have one pair new in the box waiting for my mid-life crisis in about 10 years. _________________ Mike |

Cool. I wore a few pairs of SIMPLE shoes, but their long gone... The shirts were in earth tones with all kinds of VWs pictured. My favorite was the split bus, which I can't find but I did find a split window beetle shirt. Talking about shirts I've got to include John Henrys " original recipe" shirt, Cal look.coms " 48 IDA" shirt and Gene Berg ent."black bug wheelie shirt". |

Looks like the Simple shirt has artwork from the old shoe boxes. I have the box from an old pair that is covered with drawings, I think that split Bug is on it, and there is probably a Bus. Very cool.
Meanirish...is that a local shop from your area? Local shop shirts are neat, Wagner's VW here has a great one that is a yellow shirt with a cartoony Bug on it, very 70s looking. _________________ Mike |

When the guys did the "Return to the Fatherland" tour, they had a Tee shirt printed up for it. If you were lucky to catch them in the right mood, they would sell them when they stopped. I caught one in Lincoln, Ne when they stopped for the night. Its my favorite VW shirt. The tour consisted of all pre 57 VW's touring from Cali to Boston and then loading up in containers to be shipped to Germany for the big show over there. Trip of a lifetime in my eyes. |
It was definitely the VW adventure trip of a lifetime!!!
I was one of the nine owners of the official nine car RTTFT '99 Tour. As I remember, I bought five t-shirts and three sweatshirts and two ball caps and still wear them, rotating through them all. Here is a shot of the Tour graphics on one of my sweatshirts:

The flags represent the various countries we planned to drive our old VWs through during the roundtrip adventure! The earliest car was a 1943 KDF Beetle, and the latest was a 1956 Romestch Beeskow Kabriolett. I drove the only original factory paint car on the tour. Bill Collins did an incredible job (with some help) concocting and arranging that amazing Tour adventure!

Easy. The late Peter Aschwanden's "Exploded Beetle" and "The Dream" originally sold through early editions of the Idiot manual are classic. Any air cooled vw owner has been the guy on both those shirts.
His shirts are available here if you haven't seen them
