Any potential problems in a Thing going from stock dished pistons to stock style flat tops on an otherwise stock rebuild? It will have a small header style exhaust on it. I will probably do some minor port clean up work on the heads too, no real porting though.
THanks,

Without measuring the deck height and how many cc's are in each cylinder head there is no way to guarantee you will be ok as you don't know what has been done to the engine and heads in the past. But if the deck height is set corrrectly to stock specs you should be ok. HP books, How to rebuild you air cooled VW engine has good easy to follow steps on how to do all this. |

everything on the engine was bone stock and had never been apart before I got ahold of it. Heads are stock. I'll definatly check the deck height.
My main concern is the engine running too hot. This thing is going to be a cruise around town and some 55 mph country driving in an area where a 10 foot rise over 50 feet is a big hill.
Thanks for the advice.
