But be prepared, they aren't cheap. Most of what you need to know is in an orange late model bug Bentley VW manual if you would rather save a buck or two.

The Thing Shop has a Parts List Book which, though not exactly cheap, is by far the most handy book out there as far as I'm concerned. It has exploded views of every single system on the entire car, and each view has a parts number list. You can look at the part number and tell if it is something you can pick up locally (Beetle part) or if you need to make a phone call (Thing specific.) Plus exploded views are great to have around whenever you pull something apart, or can't remember how it goes back together. Of course it doesn't actually tell you how or when to do anything, but it has made working on my car so much easier.
