I have allwasy liked the trim but have been hesitant to add it. The reason is I believe they can hold water/moisture and quickly develop into rust.
Can anyone comment on it? Thanks. |

I live in South Florida by the ocean. The ones here develop rust quickly, and unless you stay on top of it there comes the cancer. |

Although I have never fitted decklid trim, I have used clear silicone with excellent results in other applications. Brush a thin layer along the decklid slats, then lay down your trim. 24 hours later, they are snugly / firmly attached, and you have the bonus of an impenatrable barrier between the paint and the trim. This is also relatively easy to remove and clean should you desire. I have used silicone to attatch licence plates to a flat horizontal backing and never lost one yet. I have thought about using silicone but the trim is on the car already. I think taking them off might scratch the paint!!! oh what to do!!!!! |

If you see gaps between the trim and the paint get waxoyl. It comes in an spray can like WD-40 and it is based on a pliable wax. You spray it in and it will cover and protect. Good luck. |
