Nobody is asking me, but I think it looks silly with those stickers all over it. |

Don't worry about the next owner. I don't think that bus will be going anywhere fast at 10g's. |

If the new owner is half as cool as Bill was.
Let's hope. |

I hope whoever buys it drives the hell out of it, and is willing to ad some more funky stuff to it. It's what Bill would have done.
Love and miss you Bill. |

You just need to know the history to appreciate it. I never met Bill but it looks like he was well loved. And still is.

I would rock that as is, at least till it was the last bus standing and then for a while after that..I wonder if 10 g's is high for that bus but not for the spirit that professes....whats the right price for that history???Never met him but have love for him!! i could see me camping in that sucker though and having a nice couple of decades of family outings..Read the story in old bus review and was happy to have had the opportunity
.Rest in peace and condolences to Janet . . |

anyone who has met Bill would definately know that Melvan is way worth the bread! The mans shop was the cleanest and most orginized shop i had ever worked in ...and it's definately not because he didn't use it! He was meticulous about his work!
Melvan is the same......you could hop in a drive cross country without a thought! i would say 10 is low! |

They were at the last Buses by the Beach show in Jax. Florida a few years back with less stickers and pink flamingos. That bus is well travelled. |

It wasn't any easy decision to make to sell Melvan, but when Bill suffered the first stroke and was left blind, we made the decision together. Bill found Melvan for me in 1986 after I'd bought a Dormobile that wouldn't fit into our garage. Bill made me sell it, but Melvan has been a source of fun and delight and freedom for me. His name came from the license plate which was on him when we got him...unfortunately that plate was not transferrable. For almost 20 years we have worked on Mel together, tho' Bill did do most of it. We traveled many miles from Mexico to Canada, to the east coast 4 or 5 times. Our intent as we became older was to make him more comfortable, and he is. Unfortunately, I have a problem with my right leg and cannot drive him more than 30 minutes at a time. The stickers are partly protest to various things, places we've been and just silly stickers. If you can't have some fun in this life, well, why be here. I hope I can find someone who will drive and enjoy him as much as we did. And thank you for the condolences. |

Here's a shot of a little art work Bill had hanging on the awning of Melvan when I met him this past spring. We had a nice chat, and we all sat together during the awards presentation, as Bill and Janet took the trophy for long distance participant. Thank you for the memories....

Yes, I made that "gourd bus" for Bill for his birthday several years ago. Thanks for sharing it. |

Janet,
Good luck with Melvan and take care. We all sat together at Chattenooga in front of my bus and Bill held my dog.
