| I think a BR20 is for a Alfa Romeo. |

that is a crazy one...! It is exacst same set up as VW like a 019 010 fits rigt in a VW case. I wonder what the specs are and how it would work on a VW ?
How much to toss it on a dizzy machine and check out the specs...? |

The last Alfa distributor I saw was totally unsuitable for a ACVW. Too much advance all in too soon. The Alfa's have a hemi head and can handle that agressive a curve.
It makes a nice doorstop. |

| The "U" denotes vacuum. Then it's a Volo distributor. The only problem is the VW distributor turns clockwise while the Volvo turns counter clockwise. |

Yes that is what i thought about the U. 36hp bugs and bus dizzys gave me that idea.
BTW it is a B-16 engine dizzy...well the one with the U is....I know that for sure...that is for the single carb low comp engine. There are also 2 higher compresion B-16s one with single carb and a hot roded one with dual SU carbs....I am betting this one I have is for the hot rod models...seemed they prefered straight Mech advance when doing that...
Thanks buddy!

actually really looked at it tonite and this dizzy is 100% interchangeable with a 010 019 BR8... it is EXACT the same....only difference I see is teh weights are MUCH larger in the Centrifigal advance system...if I cant find someone to use it with a volvo I will take it apart (it is NOS) and use all the new stuff housing shaft ect and swicth the different weights and any items only from a old tired 019 i have...
heck my try it in a vw, time it at total advance 30-32 with my strobe and see what this thing does....HAHA |

The vj4br20 was used on type 1 based post Vans from Sep 1957. See my blog:
