damn- isn't someone paranoid.
i meant that this has all be one sided against martin so far.
and if ducman has info that he is PMing to jbow to clear things up- thats all well and good for jbow, but since martins rep has already been drug through the mud here and he is looking like shit it would be in his best intrest (or anyone wanting to defend him) to fill in the blank spots for everyone following this thread.
unless of course there isn't a good reason at all...

still want me to get hit by a greyhound?

I realize bad press from one dissatisfied customer can do major damage to a business. I also know that one of the unfortunate costs of forums like this is that anyone can say anything anonymously without accountability. That's why I was not in the camp of the head-bashers on this thread.

The problem is that if someone tells others a certain shop/store/bar/movie is good or great, people may listen and may take the praise to heart, but if one person had something horrible to say about the same business people are more likely to accept the warning and not do business there. It's a function of human nature. In a niche industry like this one, a thread like this could seriously damage a business like Martin's.

I'll let JBow post whatever information he wants. I'm not speaking for him or Martin. So far my limited dealings with Martin have been positive. His shop and his customer service may not be equal to your local BMW dealer but we're talking about 40 year old Type 3 VW's! I suppose he could raise his prices and hire an office manager to field calls but then there would be posts on here about bashing his head in due to high prices.

Geez o peas, Louise. Here I thought the Type 3 community was a little classier than the T1 or T2 clowns but I've been proven wrong yet again. I can't wait to meet all you bitter old blue- haired spinsters at the Invasion.

ducman Sat Jan 14, 2006 10:09 am

You may want to bring an attorney and a baseball bat with you Tram.

so in other words, you know the deal but theres nothing good to say so you won't say anything. fair enough. at least everyone knows to stay away.
thanks

ducman Sat Jan 14, 2006 10:40 am

No, 90volt, that's not what I said. I said it's not my business or anyone else's business but Martin's and JBow's. I only got involved because I was going to the shop and thought I could help. I PM'd JBow offering to ask Martin what was going on. I did, relayed the info to JBow and I'm confident the two of them will work this out and JBow will be happy in the end.

People like you and Spoon most likely will never be happy with, or ever do business with Martin no matter what the outcome of JBow's situation. So why keep going on about this?

BTW, you are right 90Volt, I did have a business. I sold my interest in the business after 8 years of success and the business continues to thrive as I spend my days riding motorcycles and tinkering w/ this old T3. Part of the reason my business was successful is because we didn't waste time with unprofitable pain-in-the- ass customers. My business was not in such a small, niche market like Martin's so we had the luxury of not dealing with assholes unless we were making big profits from them.

All I'll need is my middle finger. Straight up Johnny Cash style.

Nice, on all accounts! :D

Took my Jetta and changed my oil/filter and brake flush at the shop today and talked with my FRIEND, Martin. Everything has been taken care of on a good note. I'm outta here.

Before this thread i had nothing but nice things to say about Martin. I mean Martin met me in the the middle of norcal to deliver some fenders to me and gave me his cell # for communication. I have nothing bad to say about him but you on the other hand have just amazed me. get over it and let your friend speak for himself.

A paying customer is never worthless.

Ethuggin' at its finest YO! Lol, had to comment, this shit'll probably get deleted anyway. We's gonna roll hard on yo ass, whiskey style, GANGSTA!

On a more serious note, sounds like it's been resolved, so get over yourself already.

spoon Sun Jan 15, 2006 3:04 pm

Hey I happen to really like whiskey. I figured I'd say whiskey, come to think of it, should've said a "40oz of Colt 45" or "tall can of Old English" or something ghetto like that. Anyone here drink Makers Mark? Crap dude, chase that stuff with diet Pepsi or Ginger Ale, not too bad actually! We should start an alcoholics thread...

On that note, when are you getting your stuff JBOW?

Justin

DSF Mon Jan 16, 2006 10:25 am

If you liked whiskey, you wouldn't be chasing

I've had numerous transactions with Martin. No problems. He's even stored my Auto axles for me for a long, long time without any storage fee...

Martin is a great guy. A TRUE Type 3 enthusiast.

Italian greyhound or a standard greyhound. Either way, they aren't very large dogs ;)

They are pretty quick though.

Certain types of paying customer can be much worse than worthless.

The type who's never satisfied with anything (I am NOT saying this is the case in this instance!) eats up your time and gets free stuff as you struggle to appease him, then when he's milked you dry he goes around badmouthing you.

I am SO glad that I no longer work in a field where I have to provide technical services to the general public!
