I noticed that the Whiteline rear sits pretty far down too. Not too good anyway you consider it.

I hope you find that disk, especially, if it has the brake pictures, hint, hint....

After seeing these pictures of the uninstalled pieces, I would have to agree. In fact, I hung up the front bracket on rear sway bar on mine this morning. Nothing bad, but jeez it makes me upset that it hangs so low.
Anyone want to buy a rear Whiteline anti-sway bar? Low mileage.

You sure you can not change/move/adjust/drill/make something so it sits better? Is that what that VAR did to make it better? |

Yes, I was half kidding. I could probably come up with a way to raise the rear bar. That kind of sucks though, having to modify a brand new part because it isn't as effective as is should be or because it doesn't fit for sh*t. |

It seems the shape of the Addco and Whiteline rear bars are different. Betcha that is why the Addco sits up in the back better. OR? |

Bringing up an old post here...
I just received my Addco front bar and the rear should be on its way shortly. I noticed my bar is black, not sure why maybe they offer them in both finishes. Hoping the rear is also black when it arrives.
Question what grease do you guys use on the plastic bushings?
I will post pictures when I get them installed. |

The bushings should be polyurethane, so use the appropriate grease. If it was not included, most FLAPS should have what you need.

Hee, hee..... It depends on how fast you want to go around corners when you are four wheeling. They really only affect body lean going around corners quickly. Just how fast do you off road? If body lean is a concern, then put them in. What a thrill it will be when that rear bar hangs up on something out in the wilderness. |

Swaybars are pretty much for on-road driving only as they seriously limit wheel travel... This kills traction off-road... I run 33s with 4" lift on a Grand Cherokee and disconnet my Addco's at trailhead, but I wouldn't run without them on the road!! We're in UK now and looking for a Vanagon camper! |

Alright fellas.
Got my addco bars last week, installed them over the weekend and took a bunch of pics. It took me way longer than I thought it would. If I were to do it again I would say the rears take an hour and a half and the front takes 45 minutes. Its pretty straightforward even for a dummy. Just make sure you have a fully charged drill, a 3\8 drill bit made for metal, some lube and a basic socket and wrench set.
I did the back first.
the easiest thing to do is zip tie the rears to your axl's and place the fron on a box to set up the positioning.
Time to drill some holes. There are two factory 3\8 holes already there that will almost work but your bar wont be supported enough by the crossmember if you use them. However they are great for getting an idea of where to center your bar.
This is how the u bolt goes through to hold on your bracket.
Here it is mounted and lubed.
Next thing you do is drill the holes for the rear mount on the trailing arms.
try to get em as close to the seam ,while still laying flat if clearance is a concern.
Now install the bushings, tighten everthing up and test her out.
On to the front.
Removal of the original bar is simple. It comes right off. Four bolts.
Heres a comparison of the two. The new addco is way gnarlier.
Next thing you do is pull off the end links. It was pretty easy.
Pry off the old bushings with a flathead.
Re install them into the end links
Loosely install the endlinks, crawl back under your van and begin the install of the new bar. The middle attaches first. It helps to lower your van to get the end links in. (took me a good 40 minutes to figure that out)
Tighten it all up and go find your favorite road.
These things work wonders for your vans handling. MUch more composed and controlled through corners and overall more safe. Totally happy with these. |

Thnx for the detailed pics and real-world install documentation. Just recieved the 3rd notice of this kind from performancecenter.com:
"Upon following up on your order, we have recieved a new expected ship date on this item of 02/xx/2007"
Believe we ordered at the same time... I got the front bar within a week or so... but the rear has yet to be seen.
Please post video of sway bars in action through favorite twisties. |

Awesome reply, 24. It really lets one know what they are getting into, and it makes me want to get into it even more!
Does the suspension feel stiffer or harsher in any way? Or does it just handle a whole lot better with no down sides?

I received 3 notices from performance center. The last one I received was AFTER I received the rear bar stating it would be shipped on February 19th! When I received it, it was addressed to someone else, but the info was crossed off and my info was handwritten. Oh, and it was black if that matters to anyone who ordered one. |

Damon,
It feels as if they stiffened the over suspension set up just a hair, which was a totally welcomed feeling on my westy. Im also running 16" tires and Bilstiens. The difference they've made in cornering performance has been awesome. Totally transformed my vans handling characteristics in a purely positive way. Ive been driving like an asshole lately but it sure is fun. Cant wait to drive HWY 17 or some of the other great back roads in the Santa Cruz area! |
