| Hi I thought a post on Performance/Engines might shed some light? I have a 1966 Bug with the bellhouse shaved to accept a 1600 72' dual port -My problem is that around 70-75 mph the tranny seems geared so low , can I change the gear ratio in my 66 tranny to get better top end ?Thanks for any advice. Bug Augusta G.A. |

| You can change the final drive on the tranny. If it's a stock '66 tranny is should have a 4.12 ring and pinion. You can change it our to a 3.88 ring and pinion, which is what a lot on the "Pro Street" transmissions are using. |
