Next time you can check it out. Has the full bed up top too, not just the cot, and gas heater.

Loaded. 😎🤙🌺

Now, if only it were a 71... 8)

Yeah, sept VW didn't give 71s anything other than disc brakes. 72 is the beginning of it all.

I think you will find that the 1973 model-year (i.e. 1st August 1972 to 31st July 1973) VW Type 2 Westfalia motor-caravans & campervans were based upon the Type 23-517 Kombi, with the first of the specially-designed roof apertures for elevating-roof access, rather than an adaptation of the sun-roof aperture.

My 1973 model-year, VW 1600 Type 2 Westfalia Continental, based upon the Type 23-517 Kombi (as indicated by the aluminium identification plate on the cab bulkhead), left the Volkswagen factory in circa late-August or early-September 1972 and has an instrument-cluster dated July 1972.

Hello everyone,

vintage engine (type 4) preheating with 250 Watt for cold to arctic regions by DEFA (Didrik Eidsvig FAbriken, Norway):
- from the '70s DEFA 604 (220 V oil preheater, fit instead the blind cover below the type 4 engines)
- new DEFA cable and connector set #460785 that still fit the classic preheater

There's plenty of the sump strainer plate ones, usually made in USA or Canada, that's the first taco plate version I've seen, and European power too.

regards,

I think I might have seen one of these or something very similar, on a Swedish specification, 1978 VW 2000 Type 2, single-cab pickup, originating from northern Sweden, which in the year 2000, belonged to Paul Butterworth, in Billericay, Essex, England;

This should NOT to be confused with Essex County, New Jersey, USA - possibly associated with the television series "the Sex Lives of College Girls, set at Essex College, which is supposedly in Vermont!?!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sex_Lives_of_College_Girls

The fictitious American "Essex College" should similarly not be confused with the University of Essex, of which the main campus is on the outskirts of Colchester, Essex, England.

https://www.essex.ac.uk

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Essex

In the mid-1970s, my father deemed the University of Essex to be too political, so my only realistic options were the various Colleges, of the University of London or the various polytechnics in London, which taught B.Sc. degrees of the University of London or the CNAA - Council for National Academic Awards.
