I guess you have no children to name Bertha yet. I'm assuming your wife didn't want the dogs named Bertha only because it would be confusing to your children as well. Burtha, get in here, dinner is ready! :)
No doubt! If Colin gives her a good bill of health July 6, I would love to take her to the left coast!
Actually I have 2 daughters. Just after she shot me down after the 2 dogs, I didn't even try when the kids came along. :? I knew I would need a bus to get the name in the family. |

I've heard a lot of excuses for buying a bus and that is one of the more creative ones. :) |

There is no more suitable name. I love it. Keep it.
"Honey, are we going to the store?"
"Just a sec while I warm up Fatty."
You can't beat that. :) |

Geri Lou. It's a complicated story...
My girlfriend's old Jetta was named Chloe. She wanted to name a car after a guy, since guys always name there cars after girls. She couldn't decide on a suitable "guy" name, then she thought of Jared. Jared was someone she knew growing up who, by the end of high school, had become "Chloe" surgery and all. So she picked Chloe because it was a girls name that belonged to a guy (ex-guy anyway). Then Chloe was smashed. With the insurance $ from her we got a bus. I said we should name it "Jared", or "Geri" for short, in honor of the sacrificed car. Then, on the way home from picking up the bus, "Mary Lou" by CCR came on the radio. My lady starts bobbing her head, singing "Hello Geri Lou, Goodbye heart!" and the name stuck. |

Earl Da Pearl, lovely wife said dubed it a guy name :? added da pearl, cause
Earl "The Pearl" Monroe was so smooth yet never in a real hurry :!:
Da Pearl is the older brother of a VW diesel rabbit that goes by Stella the wonder Gerbal. That little diesel engine kills the ski hill road except when we really want to get up the hill |

| My first bus was called Homey, Just sorta ended up that way. Everyone in my family still refers to it as such, though he's long dead. Had a sage green '76 in college that kept breaking down and getting broken into (even after I sold it), called that one The Green Meany. My 72, bought to turn a profit is thusly named Flipper. And my '71 hasn't told me it's name yet...It's been six months, but I'm patient. |

Turtle. That's what his name was when I bought him. Some hippy driving from California to the East Coast. He had been living in it but was leaving the States to bicycle across Europe. From what I gathered, the guy had a fair bit of money from inheritence but was eccentric and miserly. He said, "His name is Turtle. I've just always called him Turtle," and I swear his voice almost cracked.
I think the name probably comes from the vehicle's hightop and inability to reach Interstate speeds. :D |

| My bus is "Pearl" (she's white). She came with the name and a little wooden name tag that the previous owner made me promise to leave hanging from the rear-view mirror before she would sell it to me. |

Our bus is named Henry
When I bought him last Fall - it did not have a name.
When I got home - I told my 3 year old son to give the bus a name - out came "Henry". Did not know it he was serious
Left it alone for a couple of days, asked again - Henry.
All the best,
Rob |

| My bus is named Buddy. This is so predictable and boring it is like naming a dog Spot, but it just seemed to fit, and has worn well over the years. 8) |

My Kombi is named "Swampy". When I was looking to buy a Bus, my brother and I ran across a 64' down along side a bunch of other vehicles on the banks of a river. When my brother and I discussed the vehicle after we'd checked it out, we refered to it as, "the bus down in the swamp" which then became "Swampy". I hadn't even bought the thing and it already had a nickname! I guess it was pure fate.....................
