In May 1998 I had joined the Der Kaefer Fahrer club group on their convoy from throughout New England to the Michigan Vintage VW Club spring meet in Auburn Hills, Michigan. On our way home via Niagara Falls, Canada and Buffalo, New York some of us switched cars between breaks to keep the interstate highway drive entertaining. I was driving Bill C's beige Zwitter Beetle (from New Hampshire) when he and his wife came up behind me in my green '77. Was able to get a usable shot of the '77 in one of the split rear windows as viewed in the rear-view mirror.
Next, I was driving Bill S's (Connecticut) fabulous all original L87 Pearl White '62 Beetle as he drove past in my '77. I fitted '69 taillamps to the fiberglass fenders that the PO had installed. Heading east on the New York State Thruway I-90. |

| On Easter Sunday 2022 I was driving my non-VW on Connecticut Route 15 (Wilbur Cross Parkway) heading east towards the Heroes Tunnel at New Haven. Going to visit my VW friend Bill S in central CT and see his recently acquired blue '67 Beetle. Was pleasantly surprised to see a very nice white '67 Beetle underway. After I got this shot I slowed down, waved to the older male driver who then honked, and continued. |
