Today's quest is Auto Insurance for my FG Buggy
I searched this topic and found lots of Bizarre Companies, some of which I called and they replyed NO!
Here are two majors that say yes. Geico was cheeper than Progressive for me

State Farm. Its very inexpensive, but then again I have 6 policies with them (including homeowners) which keeps the costs down. |

I'll second the State Farm suggestion. I went with them. They would only do basic liability, though. No comprehensive or collision, I assume since the value of a buggy is so hard to pin down.

Allstate won't touch a "buggy". I tried talking to almost everyone in the company.

My Allstate agent wouldn't insure me either. I was going to check with another Allstate insurance agent and see what they would do.
I guess with Murz comment, I no longer need to think about Allstate.
Anyone else care to share who insures their buggy. |

Also using State Farm - one thing to think about that can save you BIG $$ is to drop the coverage (except for comp, I think) over the winter if you don't drive it then. |

State Farm. When I requested it in '91 my agent only said We havent done one in a long time. I sent in pics and description decided on a replacement value and they said they would insure it if it passed inspection. Ultimately they insure prior to inspection because I needed the insurance to get registered with the DMV and needed the registration to get an inspection. After that, I only had to confirm that it passed the inspection and the rest has been very happy motoring ever since. |

I went with Antique Plates at the DMV = no Inspection Required. |

I,m trying to insure my buggy and not having any luck!. I have 3 other cars and my house Insured with Farmers but they wont Insure this car. They say its a dune buggy and they dont insure dune buggys. I told them it is striktly for the street but they dont care. Then I went to an Insurance broker and they couldnt help me eather. Then after seeing this information I tried State Farm , they wont help me eather!. If anyone knows a company that would insure me in Oregon I could sure use the help. :( |

IIRC, Oregon is the problem as this had come up on the DuneBuggyArchives forum quite some time ago. |

google the Ralley Insurance company. I insured both my Boss Bug and my wifes Ghia for less than 200 a year. This policy covered both liability and an agreed upon value. You will be limited on annual milage, and you will have to prove you own other cars and your dune buggy cannot be used as aback up vehicle. |

Foremost insurance was the best price for the value of the buggy, and was dne with a phone call.
