So I cantaxted Sacramento and my suspension was lifted. I went to AAA sat down with the worker tell her my story and she let's take a look. After looking at the screen and my paperwork she asks is this a squareback? Why yes it is..... She says I love squarebacks I had one in high school. Well here is a picture of the one I just restored. She looks back at the screen and tells me she can't give me tags but the the registration is good. I tell her damn I wanted to take it to a car show. She replies you know I can give a permit that is good for month. You should have your tags by then. Sweet! I'm going cruising tonight!

there is a small local car show every 1st friday of the month so I will go down there and get dinner and hang out. 3:30 hury up and get hear already so i can get home!!!!!

I got the same letter last week on my Fastback. I bought the car in March but didn't register it till last month and had to pay a penalty. I didn't insure it because I didn't plan on driving it till all the bugs are worked out and didn't want to pay on something I couldn't drive. I did just get a quote for "collector car insurance" and need to have proof by 11/1 or it gets suspended.

either get the insurance or fill out the afidavid of non op on line. if you mail in the non op it may go into suspesion before its filed. thats what i did wrong.

But im all legit now and will be heading out the inland valley VW show this weekend then drag days at th eend of the month.

went to IVVW october volksfest.

then on the way home my engine was over heating and some puffs of smoke here and there. i pull in the drive way park in front of the garage, pretty upset mind you, and there is oil all over the back of the car. I take all the stuff out and decide to push the car in garage. well in my frustration i left the hatch open and scratched the shit out of it on the garage door. down to bare metal and got really pissed and hit the garage door (because it was the doors fault right) and broke my hand.

yes i am the dumb ass of the day thank you everyone.

I hear you...nothing more frustrating that getting things right where you think they should be and then something goes wrong!

a buddy of mine thinks its something to do with the rings. i had the engine completely gone through so something went wrong during assembly or break in? i havent built my own motors so its about time i start so i'm not relying on others.

now i need to find someone to match my paint and touch up the rear hatch.

Full blown tear down...bummer.

At least you weren't on your way to Vegas and wound up stranded somewhere...that's what would happen to me.
