As a semaphore 59 , there probably every chance it is a true pressed bumper bus though. Can't see the bumper holes. Had a new dogleg at some stage though. |

Thanks for the messages. When I bought the bus, it didn't have the right bumper, so i found pressed bumper to put on it, now to think about whether or not to leave the bars.

just an update on my mango. with covid and work being super busy i probably drove it the least i have driven it since i have owned it(2007). However, the good news is that it is no longer in a storage unit but in a detached garage here at my house i just had freshly built. With a stable mate

This is my 1967 born primer kombi. It had a rough life before it moved into my garage some 13 years ago. After many hours welding, repairing and you know what - my bus is finally the way I want it. Mango is my favourite color so that's what it got for paint.
Interior is a home-brewed weekend getaway affair, very popular with wife and dog.
The sign writing is made to look something like an old bicycle service van. Which it actually is. The bikes you see are welded by me in my small retro bicycle workshop.
Since the real mangos have the small rear window, I welded a custom rear safari made from a small window frame. The hinges used to get this thing to open properly are from a kitchen upper cabinet. They make the window open outwards first before it tilts. Works great. And now it doesn't leak any more.

What a great bus. Usually I prefer originality but I like the small things you did to your bus like the separate opening window in the rear hatch
and the logos as well. Its also easy reversible if necessary |

Hey, thanks! I'm glad you like it. Yes the various modifications can be reversed, I saved the large rear window if I feel like reinstalling it. At first I thought the rear visibility would be a lot worse with the small rear window, but actually I haven't thought much about it.
As you can see the bus is slightly lowered, but the front beam is 100% stock. No shortening, no adjusters. The only lowering comes from flipped spindles (which can be flipped back if desired). Don't need any shortened beam since the 15" wheels sit further in than the 14" do. And the disc brakes (can also be reversed) make the track somewhat narrower. Makes for a comfortable ride.
OK I admit to have done some welding modification to the rear end - now sporting bay swingarms and a beetle gearbox. But guess what - It's actually quite easy to reinstall the reduction axle/gearbox should I wish. But I'm very happy with the different final drive ratio, makes it a bit more relaxed at highway driving. Engine looks perfectly stock with a single Solex 34. Slightly larger cylinders make it a 1776. Runs great and it leaks oil just like it should  |
