...'72 Plymouth Golduster. It was a special edition of the Duster line that had a hardtop covered with the most amazing vinyl... It looked like it had been peeled from the underbelly of a giant, car-sized snake! The car had a great Mopar 318 engine in it, but the rest of the car fell apart.

....77 Dodge Charger..I was supposed to buy a mustang but when I went to purchase it the guy was at lunch..During the hour it took him to come back I found this car..Had a 360 in it..Remember doing 136 before it started to hydroplane..Great car..Ended up spinning the tires goofing off and dropped the leafsprings right through the trunk..Found out after that it was a defect in the dodge car and a common occurance..Lost the front wheel on it once to..Lugnuts were still on the rotor but no rim..Guess thats what I get when i put longshank lugs and washers on a rim that required short shanks..Was a great car though..

70 Nova 327 TH-350
After I bought that car I was continuously working on it from day one.Makin it sweet.
After blasting the undercarriage and painting it.I replaced all the shocks, had the balljoints replaced, fresh tires all around, with an alignment.
I was on my way to get cap, rotor, sparkplugs, and wires.

I went under the overpass and a Semi truck was comming up the incline in the opposite lane.An old man pulled out in front of him and the truck swerved into my lane for a head on.
I got the wheel turned just enough to avoid a full head on.It hit on the drivers side of the engine and just compressed, ripped, and tore it up from there tossing the Nova around spinning circles and ending up against the cenent pillar of the overpass.
I blacked out of a moment.Blood was gushing out my noise, glass in my both my eyes, my leg badly bruised.I picked myself off the passengers side and stumbled out of the car and looked at it.Know one was there to ask if I was all right.They were still in their vehicles.
All I could do was just shout

LOOK WHAT THE FUCK YOU DID TO MY CAR!!!!

I survived basically uninjured because I wasn't wearing my seatbelt.
The drivers area had been smashed in really good and pushed tward the driver with the wheel pressed slightly into the seat.
The firemen got there and asked why I wasn't wearing my seatbelt.

Um... Dude...Did you get a look at where the steering wheel and the pedals are.What do you suppose would have happened if I was wearing my seatbelt :shock:

1964 VW 1500N Variant. I drove it for three years. The floors rusted out of it, then the fenders. (Ohio winters) I paid $250 for it, and it had 65000 original KILOMETRES. :shock:
I wish I still had it. Those were the days. My second car was a '63 Bus 23 window Samba with REAL Safaris. $650. YES, those were the days!
My first and only brand new car was a 1978 Westy with dealer air. I think I paid $3800 or something along those lines with my employee discount. With the exception of a brief stint in a 1977 Datsun B210 (don't ask me why, I don't know) every other car I've ever owned has been an ACVW or a Mercedes.

My '89 F-150. Had the 300ci I-6 in it, not big on power, but decent. Reved it to 5 grand one night and spun a bearing. Went to the yard to get another, and found an Iveco passenger bus with a 326ci turbo motor. Got a new(used) 300, pulled the turbo off the bus, rebuilt a head, intercooler, ect. and off I went. Still drive it everyday. Great sleeper, primer grey, busted turn lights, mashed in bedsides... :D

76 toyota landcruiser ( room mates called it the gland-bruiser ) with a 350 and 4" of lift....drove that thing cross country.....60mph at 3000rpms....engine rebuilt shortly after the trip..... :lol:

'74 Standard Beetle, just like Glenn's but white. Got it from the original owner, sitting for 20+ years w/90k original miles on it. Drove it for 7-8 years daily, just sold it about 3 months ago.

My 1970, restored by a mechanic for his daughter who didnt want it when it was finished! Oh, and the 77 Dodge in the background whenever I could talk my dad out of it...lol

1983 Cadillac Sedan Deville.

It was bought from a retiree who had left it at his mechanic's shop for a few months because of health problems. The man decided he was too old to drive so he agreed to sell me the car for $750. I had only $400 saved up at the time so I said I'd pay him $50 a month until it was paid off. He agreed and she was mine.

The miles were low on the clock but I later discovered that the mechanic had swapped the engine out and put in a real POS high mile motor. It leaked a quart of oil a week and the power steering fluid had to be topped off every 2 weeks. Eventually the HVAC froze in the heat on position. The quote I got to fix it was more than the whoel car was worth. This was not fun in the summer. Being 16 at the time I did not know enough to by-pass the heater core. I laugh thinking back on it these days.

The radio had only 1 speaker that would work 100% of the time. The others worked when the felt like it. Only the power antenna worked 100% perfect all of the time.

I had it for 2.5 years. It eventually developed an idle problem where the engine speed would jump from low to high. I put it in reverse while this problem was occuring and I heard the gears break. After that it would only go 10 mph in drive and make a really bad sound. Reverse would not work at all.

We donated it to some place and that was that.

I forgot to mention one other thing about that '72 lizard-skin Duster I had that was the subject of more than a few comments when I was in high school... the license plate read 242 KNT. Sound those letters out and you'll see why! LOL!!

My first car was a 1960 vw bug rebuilt by me and my dad. I am still driving that thing to this day, and it had been my daily driver since 1997. I, just this last month, gave it to my little brother (17) for a graduation present. It is now HIS first car. I gave it to him, with the stipulation that if he decides he doesnt want it, he MUST give it back to me..no selling. Its staying in the family!

My very first car - 78 sunroof automatic bus...I went off to college, and surprised my parents by buying it and bringing it home, a pattern which I've repeated numerous times...they always wonder what I'll drive home next!
:)
Anyway, I painted it, put an early Westy top on after the sunroof blew out on the highway and got run over to the point there was no way it was ever going to work again...
But reading about all the Big American cars - I learned to drive on my dad's 65 Barracuda, which he bought new and still has, and I will get one of these days...

My first was a 67 sunroof bug (black with red interior). I still have it although its been dead in the garage for 20+ years. I bought it in '77. I was/am the third owner.

Mine was a Pinto. :oops: I dont consider it a real car, as it only got me one way, no matter where i went. My first real car was a '61 V.W. baja conversion. No gas gauge,so we pushed it alot. it was cool.
