Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm fairly new to 6 volt systems.
Can you use a standard engine analyzer for a 6 volt system? I have a 25-year old Sears engine analyzer that still works well but I don't know if I will be getting accurate readings on my 6-volt engine.
What about timing lights? When they say so (which isn't often) they say they work on 12 volt systems. I haven't seen one that specifically states they work on 6 volt systems. If anyone knows of one like that I'd appreciate the info or a link.
Thanks. |

The analyzer will work for tach/dwell, in fact analog meters often work better on 6V systems than electronic ones. Any "powered" functions though will probably need a 12V supply. Same goes for the timing light, they almost always need to be hooked up to a separate 12V supply to function on a 6V car. |

X2, Hook the timing light to a 12 volt battery and it will work fine. |
